Peel Sessions
To quote Distorted-Loop.com:
BBC Worldwide plans to launch its very own ad-supported online music service, offering access to the broadcaster’s huge archive of audio and video music content.
The move means TV shows like Top of the Pops, coverage of Glastonbury Festival or the Proms, and all-time music classics such as the Old Grey Whistle Test will be made available for free streaming or for direct sale.
As reported by Media Week, the service will launch with at least 1,000 tracks featuring more or less than 300 of the BBCs many shows.
“There are plans to exploit the BBC’s full range of 15,000 separate music programmes, meaning the service could offer around 50,000 music audio tracks eventually and 3,000 hours of video content”, Media Week adds.”
Goodness! Image the entire collection of Peel Sessions available for download, or tracks from The Old Grey Whistle Test (I’d pay good money for a quality recording of Can’s 1975 Whistle Test performance of Vernal Equinox) or even a selection from Later With Jools Holland.
A trial version will go online in November, with the full service available early 2009. Let’s hope it’s as good as I want it to be!

I've never done this
Although I draw the line at camping outside a video game store at midnight, you will often find that I always end up buying a new games console on the day of its release.
I’m certainly no Gamesmaster – my Xbox Live Gamerscore is laughably low and my presence on high-score tables has always been non-existent, but despite my lacklustre gaming skills I still love playing video games and I always look forward to having the latest games console sat underneath my television.
To be, or not two bees
All the bees have disappeared – it’s the end of the world as we know it! That would be the case if you believed the ongoing references in the last series of Doctor Who. The truth is that they haven’t disappeared at all – I’ve been keeping the bees all along!
Browsers – why can’t we just get along?
I’ve been busy adding some of the older World of Me content to the new blog. I’ve had to be selective about what I add as I have yet to set up any sort of image gallery (most of the old content is picture heavy) and, more importantly, some of my existing writing seems to have been proof read by a simpleton. I’ll keep at it though. I should have it completed by 2009!
Unlike the blogs CSS, which is starting to make me spit bile at the keyboard. No, I’m wrong there, it’s the web browser to blame, not the CSS. You see, if like me you all used Firefox as your primary web browser I wouldn’t have to keep altering the odd snippet of CSS to make the blog work correctly in Internet Explorer 7 (don’t get me started on Opera or Safari, I haven’t even installed those yet). Just when I think I’ve finally nailed the layout of a page I’ll test it in IE7 only to find that it looks like it’s been spewed up by a cat.
Again, I’ll keep at it. I should have it completed by 2009.
