To be, or not two bees
All the bees have disappeared – it’s the end of the world as we know it! That would be the case if you believed the ongoing references in the last series of Doctor Who. The truth is that they haven’t disappeared at all – I’ve been keeping the bees all along!

Two bees, or not to bees. It is two bees.
This year’s sunflower yield has faired pretty well considering the the rubbish weather we’ve been experiencing over the summer. The constant rains, the howling winds and the lack of sunlight has played havoc on my garden and most of my vegetable plot has been destroyed by seemingly weekly flooding. Unlike my sodden onions the sunflowers have survived the biblical floods and have started to bloom.

Thanks to the weather the sunflowers have bloomed at different times, the flowers at the front of the house being the first to display their yellow petals…

…while the flowers at the back seem to be doing their own thing. I’m glad that Gigantor has made an appearance this year and is standing at an impressive 2.4 metres tall.
This year I hope to harvest the seeds to make healthy snacks. Along with my plot of spring onions and my pepper plants I should be able to produce a home-grown salad by October.
Do you ever actually manage to get any decent peppers?
I know mine are always rubbish, and this year looks like it’s going to be no different.
Nope, absolutely rubbish peppers this time around. The constant rain and lack of sun has ruined my garden. Next year I’m considering a paddy field.
I know him, he’s a lovely fella.
Not sure Mrs. Field will be keen to part with him all summer though.
