Curse My Eyes
It was back in the mid-nineties that I discovered I was short-sighted. It was when I was at a Star Trek convention with my cousin Samantha.
That’s right, you read correctly, a Star Trek convention.
I discovered that I had poor vision when we were sat in a hot, sweaty conference room with a few hundred fellow Trekkies at the Leicester Holiday Inn. We were sat listening to various luminaries giving entertaining talks about their time in the Star Trek universe. The charming George ‘Mr. Sulu’ Takei was present, as was the rather witty Max Grodénchik (Deep Space Nine’s half-wit Ferengi ‘Rom’) who had managed to win the audience’s adulation with a comedic re-enactment of Ferengi mating rituals.

Star Trek
News of the new Star Trek movie is common knowledge to anybody with an internet connection. For those who aren’t online (and therefore not reading this, yes, I know) or pay no interest in such matters, there is a new Star Trek movie being released next year. Staring an all new cast as the classic 60′s characters, the movie will reinvent the Star Trek franchise in a not-to-dissimilar fashion to the recent Battlestar Galactica television series.
Images from the movie have been kept tightly under wraps, with only a few select pictures of the cast being released earlier this year. This changed today when a slew of stills from the movie were posted on the sci-fi website io9.
So, before any lawyers are called and the pictures are removed from the io9 website, I thought I’d better grab them and post them here.
